Le Tour Eiffel

I meant to post this earlier but after a night of Nandos and Vampire Diaries I'm afraid I didn't quite get round to it!

Last week the lovely Sophie from The Secret Avenue sent me a bracelet she'd made for me to try out! For those of you who don't know, Sophie is currently in the process of setting up a jewelry shop so head over to her blog to keep up to date with the proceedings. Sophie sent me some images of an assortment of beads and charms to chose from to compile my bracelet with. Of course, as soon as I saw there was an Eiffel Tower in the great selection of silver charms I HAD to chose that! I also picked some pretty red beads to go with the charm. Then all I had to do was eagerly await my creation in the post.

When my bracelet arrived, I was so pleased with it that I haven't taken it off since! Here I am wearing it:

Nail polish: Ciate in 'Wait Until Dark'

Bracelets (L to R): Pandora, Pandora, TheSecretAvenue and Topman (belonging to my boyfriend!)

My top is Topshop, shorts: New Look and Converse are by Converse All Stars. Thanks very much to the gorgeous Sophie! I love my new bracelet!

Monochrome Magic

Having researched Ezra Stoller for my photography A level, I proceeded to take some Stoller style photographs of my own around college yesterday. Harder than you might imagine with a lack of tripod and with only a brick school for inspiration! Here were my final images I will use in my project. These are raw and unedited but what do you think?

Fighting the Frizz

We've all been there- you've got an important interview/date/party and you want your hair looking truly 'goddess' however, a wash and blow dry later leaves you more 'Hermione-Granger-from-the-first-film.' Nightmare.

In the never ending quest for frizz free hair I've come across some great tips which I'd like to share with you:

1) Find the right Shampoo and Conditioner for YOUR hair. (Note: this may not be the same shampoo/conditioner that works for your best friend).

I have a bathroom cupboard full of various shampoo brands. From Tresemme to Herbal Essences I've tried it all (even Lush's solid shampoo has graced my bathroom). At the moment, the 'one' for me is V05's Gloss Me Smoothly range and its currently working wonders on my locks.

2) Don't towel dry! No, really, just don't.

Towel drying is quick and easy, but, the rough towel texture irritates hair follicles causing frizz (dun dun duuuun) so use an old tshirt instead. Happy heads all round.

3) Sleep with your hair in braids/bun.

A bit of serum and a plait over night will leave you with much more desirable morning hair than going it alone. Bedheads everywhere- we are fighting back!!

4) Let your hair dry naturally.

In this digital age its very easy to let technology fight our frizz for us. Hair tongs and blow dryers provide a short term fix but could leave you with more frizzy hair than ever in the long term. Resist using electronic hair gadgets where possible and allow hair to air dry after a wash. If you can't give up the straighteners just yet: invest in a good quality heat protection spray.

Good luck!

Space Cadet

Today was a tiring day for many reasons. It was my first full day of college and I was pretty drained before I even got to school. I also had a substitute teacher for my first ever A2 photography lesson which, as you can imagine, wasn't an especially great start! When I got home I also found out my hamster is ill with wet tail (which can be very bad news if not caught in time!) she is now on antibiotics, poor love.

However, I did wear my vintage jade green dress to college which made everything seem a bit better. I love this dress!

The dress is from Superficial Space Cadets online. Seriously check them out now!

Photography Coursework: Alice In Wonderland

Rifling through my computer archives threw up my Alice and Wonderland photography coursework from last year. I'm really proud of these photos and I put a lot of effort into getting all the costumes and making the props! Can you tell which photo fits which icon "Alice Scenes?"

What do you think?

11th September 2011

Today's outfit is a simple affair to accommodate the simple, relaxed way I'm spending this afternoon. I've been at my Grandparent's house most of the day for a spectacular (no, really) Sunday roast. Yum. Now I'm chilling out at home.
I'd just like to say R.I.P to the victims of 9/11. Always remembered, never forgotten.

Seeing Double

I often search Urban Outfitters, Topshop and House of Fraser for the latest trends and then search eBay for cheaper alternatives (I'm a student, hello?). You can find some great similars on there. Arguably not the same quality as the more expensive versions but hey, if it saves me 80 quid!

Here is an example of a fab eBay bargain:

I love Urban Outifitters Cambridge Satchel but NOT its £108 price tag. These great dupes on eBay are going for just £19.99! Roll on payday.

Lily

We have an addition to the family! Her names Lily and shes a long haired hamster. I arrived home from work today to find this cutie climbing her bars. Shes still a bit shy but we managed to coax her out with some carrot. Sorry for the blurred photo! Shes so fast.

Love Lockdown

Hello again. Sorry for lack of posts this week! To be honest I haven't had a lot to say and I'm not one for half hearted posts. However, yesterday my Mum gave me a very special present -her charm bracelet.

Her charm bracelet was given to her by her Nan when she was younger than I am now. Its silver and very special as each of the charms represents a momentous occasion in her life.

She gave it to me saying it deserved a new lease of life and I'm so over the moon. It means a lot to my Mum and it shows how much she trusts me! I'm very lucky.

Shoe (symbolizing a pantomime my Mum was in), rabbit (symbolizing pet) and seahorse.

'There was an old woman who lived in a shoes..'

'N' my Mothers initial.

The cat symbolizing my Mum's pet 'Bubbles' and the boat; a family holiday.

Ballerina for Mum's dancing exam and harp for a show she was in.

The bracelet means so much to me and rest assured I'll look after it!

Golden

I actually wrote this whole post out once before but Blogger error came up and I lost it all! Boo. Hope it works this time...

So, yesterday was my Grandparent's Golden (50th) wedding anniversary and about 60 people joined them at a pretty golf course to celebrate. I made them (from my Everything Alice Book!) a cushion cover, made to look like an invitation (see below). I was quite proud of it seeing as I haven't picked up a needle and thread since I was a younger nipper at primary school learning sewing in art class. (I wasn't much good then, either!) My sister and Mother collaborated to make the fabulous cake you can see below. Isn't it spectacular? I can't tell you how stressful it was trying to transport the cake to the location of the party!

The day was a great success (even if I did get told by a random guest that my shoes were stupid!) and my Grandparents said that the key to a long marriage is the fact they are best friends (N'awww).

Here is what I wore:

My dress is Zara, belt: vintage, shoes: River Island and bag: Next.

Who's looking forward to going back to college this week? Not. Me.
